Fridge door seals: dimensions are only part of the match

A replacement gasket needs the correct profile, mounting style and measurement convention.

A loose or damaged refrigerator door seal deserves attention, but replacing it starts with identification rather than a guess at size.

Identify the cabinet and door

Record the full model and serial number, and whether the seal belongs to the fridge, freezer or a particular commercial cabinet door. A two-door unit can use different gaskets.

Check the profile

The cross-section and attachment method must match. A push-in, screw-retained or other mounting design cannot be chosen solely from a height and width.

Ask which measurement is required

Suppliers may use different measurement conventions. Before submitting a custom order, confirm whether dimensions refer to the outside edge, centre line or another reference. Do not assume the door size is the seal size.

Confirm before manufacture

Request written confirmation of the selected profile, dimensions and door application. Review any custom-order conditions before approving production.
